Job Overview: The nation’s largest in-school dental program is looking for an Oral Health Educator (also known as the Tooth Fairy!) to drive participation at our partner school districts and engaging children in the importance of oral health. Serving children for almost 20 years, our Big Smiles Mission is to bring dental care to students in schools, in the most comfortable and effective way.   In this role, you will be traveling to schools in Kern County giving short oral health presentations to children in grades PK-5, while distributing consent forms from classroom to classroom. You will also be interacting with teachers, nurses, and other school staff. Oral Health Educators are asked to visit schools: - If the school has low participation - less than 20% of students signed up to receive dental care - If the school is new and a visit will create more interest in the program - If the school has specifically requested that an Oral Health Educator make a visit to the school   Requirements: - Daily travel within Kern County  – up to 100 miles round trip.   - Available to work most days of the week during school hours (8AM-3PM) and up to 30 hours/week. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must have the ability to lift 50+ pounds and assist with unloading, set up, break down, and reloading equipment from mobile van into school and back to mobile van. This position requires the dexterity and motor skills to handle dental instruments, x-ray equipment, sterilizers, air compressors and other equipment as needed to perform job tasks. The employee must follow safety guidelines to protect themselves and patients from infectious diseases and associated risks with the x-ray machine. The work locations will require travel (up to 2+ hours on occasions). The work environment is fast paced, requiring adaptability to interact with children and adults
